Search visibility forms the third practical constraint. Subtitle files are indexed by major platforms. When the text contains the precise terminology an overseas audience actually searches—technical phrases, product names, or educational keywords—the video surfaces in results that pure audio metadata cannot reach. One controlled experiment adding closed captions to a set of YouTube videos produced a measurable lift in views, with the largest early gains coming from new search traffic driven by caption content. For short-form outbound videos targeting international platforms, embedding those keywords inside professionally timed bilingual tracks is therefore both a comprehension tool and a discovery mechanism.
